Early this morning, the last of our troops left Iraq. As we honor and reflect on the sacrifices that millions of men and women made for this war, I wanted to make sure you heard the news. Bringing this war to a responsible end was a cause that sparked many Americans to get involved in the political process for the first time. Today's outcome is a reminder that we all have a stake in our country's future, and a say in the direction we choose.
Remove me from your mailing list. You blow own your horn about leaving Iraq! What a sick joke. You have contributed to the destruction of Iraq and now the wider world. You and your war-dogs and your war-drones and your war-whores have widened war. I want nothing to do with you. I am fed up with your deceitful, murderous policies. You have sold out to the same powers that the war criminal Bush sucked up to. I was so hopeful. I even gave campaign contributions to you. I cried tears of joy when you were elected. I have been weeping in rage ever since. Some Nobel Prize winner you are, without even the self-awareness to return it.
More particularly, you have shamelessly courted the Islamofascist government of Turkey, particularly championing the likes of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. His gangster government has imprisoned thousands of dissenting leftist patriots, has destroyed all concept of legality, has corrupted any notion of human rights, has shattered press freedom, has stolen billions from the Turkish people, has received hundreds of millions in bribes from your felonious CIA, has obliterated the enlightened legacy of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Surprised? You shouldn't be. I have told you this in writing repeatedly since you came to office. Anyone who can consort with this criminally corrupt Turkish government is either morally blind, tragically misinformed, or corrupt. You choose, Mr. President. I have already made up my mind.
You had a chance to save America, Mr. President. Instead, you continued its destruction. And in so doing you have destroyed my hopes.
I look forward to receiving my absentee ballot for the 2012 presidential election. I will tear it to bits and return it to the election board with the same admonition I gave to you: "Remove me from your mailing list." You have revealed democracy to be the sham that it is. I want no part of such a corrupt enterprise, its cheerleaders, or you.

Obama for America
Read SHOUTS, a novel of love and war and treachery. By James Ryan
To purchase a copy click on SHOUTS below. E-book or paperback. 576 pages. ISBN: 978-1-61434-440-7
SHOUTS tells of the last days of the pre-World War I golden age in New York City. The richly detailed narrative orchestrates the profuse voices of its characters—priests and bartenders, boxers and violinists, politicians and brewmasters. They shout out loud their stories, telling of their origins, their hopes, their fears, their dreams, their loves. The book resounds with the symphony of those tempestuous days full tone and tint. While of Irish and German roots, these people stand for all the subsequent generations of races, colors and creeds who still arrive from distant lands to make new lives in America. They stand for all of us. We are their children. They live in our marrow. We are one with all distant lands, all of us Americans, all of us from some place else, all of us foreigners. SHOUTS tells everyone's story.
